Tournament rules
Spirit of the contest
The Guadeloupe Cosplay Challenge of #GCD GIGA'GAMES 2026 is above all a friendly, stress-free moment where everyone expresses their passion through costume and stage performance. A great time shared together, made even better by great prizes.
Themes
Each participant freely picks one of the following themes: Asian anime and manga, cartoons, comics and graphic novels, films and animated films, TV series, video games, tales and legends, or personal creation (based on a reference image only).
Registration and soundtrack
Registration is done beforehand on www.lagiga.info. The soundtrack is mandatory and must be provided during pre-registration, in MP3 format, 1 min 50 maximum, by e-mail to lagigagames@gmail.com or verifggic@gmail.com (failing that, on a USB stick containing only this file, handed over on the day of the contest).
The track must be clear and of good quality, with no background noise or distorted voice. The whole performance (audio and physical) must be suitable for all audiences. The audio file is named as follows: firstname_lastname_alias. The organizers reserve the right to reject a track that does not meet these criteria.
Required documents
Before performing, each participant must co-sign these rules as well as the image rights authorization.
Underage participants
The contest is open to minors under additional conditions: signature of the rules by the participant and their legal guardian; parental authorization signed by the legal guardian, with a copy of their ID card or passport; a special minor image-rights authorization signed by the legal guardian; a phone number reachable on the day of the event.
The minor may be accompanied by a single legal guardian, including in the dressing rooms. During pre-judging and stage performances, the minor is entrusted to the organizers.
How the contest runs
The contest starts at 2 p.m. at the Palais des Sports Laura Flessel in Petit-Bourg. Fifteen minutes before, the registrations of those present are checked and validated, then the running order is drawn.
The contest has two stages. Pre-judging: a timed interview with the jury where each participant presents how their costume was made and answers questions. Stage performances: on the main stage, each participant has a slot of 1 min 30 maximum.
Sets, props and safety
The detailed list of set elements and props used is provided during pre-registration. Sets and props must not be dangerous or harmful to anyone. Any pyrotechnics (smoke, fireworks, firecrackers), object throwing and liquid spraying are strictly forbidden.
No weapon is allowed, even as a prop: real weapons, replica firearms, razors, katanas, airsoft, knives, paintball or similar. Only cardboard or non-dangerous plastic weapons are accepted. Any dangerous or non-compliant item is confiscated and handed over to security, the police or the gendarmerie.
Jury
The panel is made up of 4 to 5 people: PandaChan (jury president), Senpai from Senpai Animation Cosplay, LauWyn (three-time Guadeloupe Cosplay champion) and a member of the audience.
In case of force majeure, the jury, in agreement with the majority of cosplayers, may adapt the rules for a smoother contest.
Scoring
Each jury member scores out of 100 points: 50 for the costume and 50 for the performance.
Costume (50 pts, each criterion out of 10): difficulty, sewing and construction quality, choice of fabrics and materials, likeness, mobility and ease of movement.
Performance (50 pts, each criterion out of 10): stage acting and roleplay quality, faithfulness to the source, communion and interaction with the audience, technical execution, originality and creativity.
Attitude and conduct
The participant must be present at the time of the competition. After three unanswered calls, they may be disqualified, with no way back. In case of a brief absence (eating, drinking, resting), the head referee must be informed. Any partial or total damage to equipment is replaced and reimbursed by the person at fault.
Insults, abuse, inappropriate gestures or violence towards another participant or a member of the organization are strictly forbidden, before, during or after a performance. Any verbal or physical violence leads to disqualification from the contest, and possibly expulsion from the arena.
General code of conduct
Take care of all the equipment and software you use, as well as the furniture. Be friendly and considerate towards every participant. Bring your own controller and the required cables, including a GC adapter. When the organizers call an end to freeplay, stop immediately: no “one more stock”, no “almost done”, the tournament's punctuality depends on you! If the rules are not respected, the organizer reserves the right to ban players from the tournament.
Image rights and data protection
